I cannot praise Delaware Psychiatry LLC enough! The office manager is very good at her job. She always explains things to me regarding billing or insurance. And Dr. Nana was exactly what I needed in a doctor. She took her time to get to know me, asked a lot of questions and listened to me. She finally gave me a proper diagnosis. Part of the puzzle that helped me heal was finding the right medications for my diagnosis. Thank you again for helping me find balance and peace in my life!

In 2021, I saw a nurse practitioner who poorly misdiagnosed me with Bipolar 2 over the phone in 20 minutes. She misled me down the wrong path for additional years of my life, further delaying mental health recovery for myself that was already drastically delayed. She blamed my supposed "high suicide risk" mostly on lack of spirituality, which felt like trying to shame me. She lacked understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions in adults and girls/women, as that’s what I was actually unknowingly dealing with. To be frank due to how she spoke to me I feel she stereotyped me quickly, likely influenced by gender biases towards women requiring mental heath services. If that last statement is too touchy: we should all know of these biases, because they exist absolutely and undeniably, and they are harmful to those trying to get help. The worst thing was that she pushed an expensive antipsychotic as the first pick for me out the gate, and I couldn’t afford it and openly did worry about continuing it long term. I had been told it was my best shot and I was vulnerable and desperate, so I agreed to take it. In less than a week it caused akathisia symptoms after every dose, debilitating heart-racing anxiety and cloudy brain and tremors, severely worsening my mental health. When I reported the side effects, she dismissed them as "strange” and said sorry but that was it! She didn’t even pick up on the akathisia!!! So I’m sorry too, as over 4 years I genuinely feel I am still recovering from that medication’s side effect psychologically. Overall, she was rude, unprofessional, and abusive of her power toward me I feel. This place damaged me deeply. I strongly advise others to avoid it. They do not care, and you will be hurt if you’re vulnerable, desperate, and easily swayed by practitioners here who do poor work.
