First session and first time appointment. Facility was embracing, easy to get to, warm and inviting. Staff professional and helpful. I initially had an issue with access to portal but was quickly addressed and was smooth after. Looking forward to future sessions.

I have been coming to this office for almost a year and a half for medication management and talk therapy and have had a great experience! So much so, I recently referred a friend to this location since we are both on the same insurance plan through the University. FCC FoCo was provided on a list from the mental health staff at CSU Health Center when I first started graduate school last fall. This seemed to be the best option for me because I could handle both my ADHD medication and talk therapy at one location. The staff at the front desk have always been attentive and communicative about paperwork and scheduling with no issues so far. Virgina Anderson haș been an incredible provider to work with for my ADHD medication. She is dedicated to understanding how the medication and dosage impact my attention and executive function elements of my life in addition to primary elements of overall wellbeing (sleep, diet, overall health). Even when going on a 6-week field campaign chasing storms throughout the Great Plains, Virginia and her technician where supportive and responsive to ensure I had access to my medication for the extended period I was gone. While there were still some logistical nightmares battled with the pharmacy and insurance, this was extremely beneficial to my wellbeing and logistics since I drove 14,000 miles during the campaign and rarely knew ahead of time where we were staying and if I would be in that location long enough to fill a new prescription. At first, I was seeing a talk therapy provider that left due to personal reasons. I had a great dynamic with her and was very sad to see her go, but I am fortunate to have taken many good lessons from her as I adjusted to life as a masters student after moving my partner and pets 900 miles across the country. Fortunately, I was paired with a new therapist who I enjoy and trust. She is very attentive, realistic in her responses, supportive, and willing to tell it like it is. While my experiences have been very positive, I think it would be incredible to see more BIPOC representation in the FCC FoCo provider staff. Given the demographic of the area, it is understandable why this isn't the case. I also understand that just because the practitioner is not BIPOC doesn't mean they don't have the skills or experience to work with patients from diverse backgrounds. However, it may be refreshing or ensure more trust for students or community members to have providers from diverse backgrounds available in their area. There can be a different perspective and response utilized when practitioners have some element of relatability (how I worked through a traumatic experience more common within the Indigenous community and processed the weight it had on my identity was very different because I had an Indigenous therapist at the time). This is not a situation that is one size fits all, but overall it would be a nice addition to an already positive mental health practice in the area.
