Doctor Gaskins truly saved me along with Gods guidance. I’m so grateful to have an MD who is understanding, listens, and gives you so much useful information about what’s going on and what the medicines do and what they may not be good for. I would be stuck without Southern Psychiatry… in fact i was. i’m very thankful to have such an intelligent doctor who’s seen me at my worst and continues today to fight with me. I’m truly astounded by how much Dr. Gaskins knows and interests me greatly. I more than recommend - and this is coming from somebody that had to try everything and everywhere(and is very stubborn). Good luck to everyone and Do yourself a favor and get an appt if you can/need to, you will not regret it. Stay blessed!

I submitted intake forms weeks ago before the holidays. I was told they would reach out to me after the holidays due to a lack of providers and would let me know if I had been accepted or not and then schedule if so. I hadn't heard anything so I called them. A very rude woman named Marie claiming to be office manager answered. she took my last name and proceeds to say "they can't take you" and that was it. No explanation, no empathy, just those four words. I asked her why and she said she didn't know. I asked to speak to someone else that could maybe help me to better understand why, in which she told me she was the office manager and there was no one else. I asked further questions trying to grasp the fact that she so rudely and unexplainably declined me as a patient and asked if it was because they didn't have availability or if they felt they were unqualified to take me with the information I gave them????? All she said was "yeah, they can't take you." As a person who just wants the mental help I so desperately need, this was completely devastating and discouraging. I understand if they felt they couldn't give me proper care, and I appreciate that, but that could have been 1) relayed to me through a phone call instead of me waiting around and reaching out and 2) handled better by the office manager with a well-deserved PROFESSIONAL explanation and like I said before, some empathy. I was so excited to be a patient before given the extensive bios on the providers and what seemed to be a welcoming business... however I am almost glad this happened because any company in this field of work that has a nasty rude woman working as office manager is probably not the most fit place to seek out mental help anyways. This could have easily set off someone on the verge of a breaking point given we are mentally ill people here seeking refuge.... but they clearly don't seem too concerned about that unfortunately. go anywhere else.
