I normally don’t leave reviews, but I feel like people should know what happened to me. I had an appointment scheduled with Thriveworks, but over the weekend I got sick with food poisoning. I also had an important job interview that had to be rescheduled to the same time as my therapy session. As soon as I realized the conflict, I immediately contacted Thriveworks to reschedule, not cancel. They told me they have a 48-hour cancellation policy and that because I didn’t give enough notice, I would be charged $135. I explained that I wasn’t trying to skip the appointment — I was genuinely sick, trying to manage a job interview, and dealing with ADHD, which makes scheduling and time management harder. I asked for flexibility or a one-time exception. They refused. For a company that works with people dealing with mental health issues, trauma, ADHD, anxiety, and real-life emergencies, I expected more compassion and understanding. Instead, I felt like the policy was applied in an extremely rigid way, without any regard for circumstances or disability-related needs. Charging someone on Medicaid $135 for trying to reschedule — not skip — feels inaccessible and honestly out of touch with the reality of the population they claim to serve. I’m sharing this so others know what to expect. The therapists themselves may be wonderful, but the corporate policies leave zero room for real life, emergencies, or the challenges that come with mental health conditions. That’s not the supportive or flexible care I hoped for.

I was notified at 12:22 pm that my 9 am appointment was cancelled as a result of the counselor. Since it was my first visit, not a great start. When you pay for these services you expect better.
